Thomas

My next doll was Thomas. I love dolls and from time to time I like to browse doll listings and see what is out there. Sometimes, I look for Sasha dolls, sometimes for other dolls (both newer and more vintage ones).

One day I was just looking and I saw this Gregor doll on eBay in December 2017. His expression looked different to me than the other boys I'd seen before, and I just loved it! It felt like he had a lot of character, I knew I had to adopt him. 

I was so happy when I won the listing. He came right before Christmas with a box labelled "301 Gregor Dark Denims", although he didn't have a wrist-tag. When I opened up the box, he was in excellent condition (strong stringing). 

At first, I was a little confused by the costume he was wearing: a red robe, not dark denims. When I checked my Sasha Identification book, it showed only blond Gregor dolls with blue eyes in red-bath-robe-and-pyjama outfits. I'm not sure if he is in his original box or not. I wondered, could he have been redressed? But then again, I would say the doll and clothes were all in mint condition.

I think he probably is the 301 Gregor Dark Denims doll, because he looks like one of the boys in the picture that the book includes. 

                    

A  few days ago I bought a set of Sasha dolls post cards. And there was one of a dark haired Gregor doll. The card says Gregor in outfit 803, so I wonder if maybe my Gregor had gotten redressed in outfit 803 at some point before he came to me.

I named him Thomas. Don't ask why. I just looked into his face and decided he would be a Thomas. :)

 Also, according to the Sasha Identification book, the type of boxes he came in (II-D) was produced from 1976 to 1978.

 

Antony is greeting Thomas. At that time we were still waiting for our apartment.

It was his first Christmas with my Sasha family. He got his very own toy, a kangaroo. Also, in this picture you can see how different they look!

I only expected us to be in that apartment for around 2 months, so I had decided that I wasn't going to unpack any of my dolls until we were settled into our new home. It ended up taking almost 2 full years for us to move in, and one day I realized how much I missed having them in my room. I took them all out, and we celebrated Christmas and New Year 2017 and 2018 as well on top of the moving boxes. :)
I might have given myself more work, having to repack them when it was time to move, but it was so worth it to see my Sasha family every day!

In the pictures, Thomas is wearing a green turtleneck that I made for Antony. But I think he looks much more interesting in red than green, I have to find a nice red yarn and make a sweater just for him.

My Sasha family keeps growing!

I typed the post below a while ago (2017), but I never posted it for some reason. 
Since then, we moved to our new home and my Sasha family grew even more! I also finally have my very own craft corner and the dolls have their own shelf. I will post pictures later.

However, I'm posting this one anyway as it was already written, to show you some of my new dolls.

It has been a while since the last time I posted anything to my blog. There was a little complicated situation with my family moving. It was stressful and it influenced our lives, including my knitting, posting on my blog and other things. I wish the situation could have been better.

I have some new dolls and I would like to share them with other Sasha doll lovers. :)

How many similar dolls can one have? I do not know. But I just found out that it is difficult to resist a new Sasha doll even when you already have one just like it.
I found two Sasha dolls on the Facebood Marketplace, one Honey Blond 101 and another Sasha Baby Bear doll. I already have a Honey Blond, but the price was very friendly. In my defense, I think that very few people could resist buying for such a good price. The dolls were in excellent, not-played-with condition, and in their original clothes. The lady was selling the dolls that she had bought for her daughter in the 80s. So, I bought them. The shipping was very fast, I got them the next day after paying the price. It was a very pleasant transaction!

After they arrived I was speechless. The dolls bodies were silky to touch, and they hold poses like they were made yesterday. The hair and uncovered parts of their bodies were dusty, but not diffucult to clean.

So meet my new Sashas. All cleaned up and beautiful!
This is Kvitana, a Honey Blond 101 Sasha doll. I already have another Honey Blond 101 doll. Maybe one day I will resell one of them, but for now they're both staying. They can be twins :)
Also, I think this one is slightly taller, her eyes seem lighter, and her body has a warmer color compared to my other Honey Blond doll.

So here they are together, Jasmina and Kvitana together.

The second doll is a Baby Bear. The baby has a unique expression, I am not sure if I was able to capture it with my camera. I love the doll! She holds the pose better that my other two baby dolls, and her haircut looks a bit different. I believe she is from 1982, because her outfit has narrower pique stripes on the fabric, as referenced in the Sasha Dolls Series Identification book. Her name is Evelyn!

And here she was, waiting for her new dress. 

The Baby Bear Doll has her original clothes but she lost her wrist tag, and her teddy bear.

I cannot replace her tag right away, but I've made her a white teddy bear, as a friend. She seems happy with it.

Now, about my experience with vintage clothes. The doll's original dresses were covered with yellowish-orange age stains all over dresses, panties, and baby's hat. I just sprayed the clothes with Shout. It worked partially, but the stains weren't out yet. I then put the clothes in water with detergent overnight. I changed the water a few times. 80% of the stains were gone, but a few stubborn ones were still there. 

Then I mixed water, soda, and hydrogen peroxide together and the mixture did magic. Almost all stains gone, but I will repeat it once more to get it totally cleaned.

It's been a complicated few months for me. We were moving to a new apartment. Everything is packed away and will be not opened until we moved to the permanent place. 

But the holidays were coming, I missed my dolls, and couldn't resist, so I unpacked them and took a few family pictures! Also, I have a new member of my Sasha family. It was a good opportunity for a family picture. 

Happy holidays to all my Sasha friends. I wish you holidays filled with lots of happiness, peace, and love to celebrate with the wonderful company of friends and family; the ones that matter the most.

My Sasha family received a very lovely Christmas gift this year. We adopted another Sasha baby, Sandy. She arrived a few days before Christmas. I didn't give her a name yet.
Update: I have decided on a name. She is Andriana.

Below she has just taken a bath from a long and somewhat difficult  trip. The box was ripped open. She was cold and looked scared. But we all are happy that she arrived safe.

The first person to meet her was Telesyk.

Telesyk was very enthusiastic and excited to have another baby to play with. He admitted that his Teddy Bear matches Sandy's dress, but he loves his teddy so much and is not ready to part with him. Instead, he presented Sandy with her very own very soft, very huggable penguin.

Oh, and how she liked it!

She said that it was the best day of her life.

Aunt Ann was reading to the children, and they were listening. 

The older kids were very happy to have another kid home. They lit up the Christmas tree and all were fascinated by its beauty ....

While taking a family photo,  it wasn't easy to get the small kids attention... 

but we managed. :)

My Sasha Family

Hi!

I created this blog to share my love of dolls and crafting. I've always loved hand-making things. Knitting is my main hobby, but I also love crocheting, embroidering, and sewing as well as implementing it all into my knitting.

I've made clothes for dolls as long as I remember myself holding a scissors and needles. But there were different periods in my life for designing and crafting for dolls. Right now is the best of all these periods because I have fully realized that it is what I love and want to do, I can buy any tools and fibers that I need, and I have time and a lot of ideas. :) 

Recently, I started collecting Sasha Morgenthaler Dolls. I also have a few childhood dolls, AG and mini AG dolls, and some other dolls that I think you will see posts of. 

My love for Sasha Morgenthaler Dolls started in 2010 when I bought this doll in a thrift shop. She is not a Sasha Doll, her name is Sacha.

 

I still don't know who made her; I never found much information about the company that produces her. She has a tag that says she's a Sacha doll, by A Dynasty Doll. But I am not sure if the tag belongs to the right doll or not. If anyone knows who made her, or which doll she is, I would love to have that information.

So when I searched for this Sacha doll, I found a lot of pictures and information about Sasha Morgenthaler dolls instead. I had never seen Sasha Morgenthaler dolls before and I was almost instantly intrigued. 

Nikki Kenohan's blog was the first place that introduced me to the Sasha world. I was amazed by her knitting for Sasha dolls, her stories and pictures. I've found a lot of people all around the world who love and collect these dolls, and I was dreaming of owning at least one Sasha doll myself. 

My dream came true, completely unexpectedly, around three months later. :)

Meet my dolls...

I found my first Sasha doll in a thrift shop. I couldn't believe my eyes. The doll was bald, she was in good condition, but played with. I bought her and she's stayed with me ever since. 

She is a Velvet, 1981, Limited Edition doll. Her name is Sophie. She has a wig now and models a lot of the clothes I knit.

   

My second doll is a baby Sasha doll (a 510 Baby Denim Playsuit Brown hair) that I received as a Christmas gift from my friend. 

He is a boy and his name is Telesyk.

My third doll is Anthony. 
He is one of the denim boys with dark blue sweaters, but I have to do more research to find more specifics. I did not plan to buy him, it just happened. I wished for a long time for a sporty boy, but they were out of reach for me. I will have to find out which one he is. He came undressed and from a home that had smokers in it. But after a few baths and a little fresh air, he is feeling much better.  He has a very sweet face (and I've already made a soccer uniform for him that I will post later :). 

The most recent doll that I've bought is a Sasha Harlequin. 

She is in mint condition. She is the only one that has everything; her box, certificate, and all the accessories. Her name is Ivanna/Ivana/Ivanka. When I was small I never liked this name, but I love it now.
