Ivasyk-Telesyk is looking at the pictures in a Ukrainian fairytale book. It looks like this particular story is his favorite, and it is how he got his name.
Here is a translation of the Ukrainian fairy tale if anyone is interested. This translation is very nice. I would only say that at the end, the mother and father are eating pancakes rather than cakes.
Worried about the boy...
Below are the illustrations from a vintage book picturing Ivasyk Telesyk escaping on the back of a goose!
This is a sculpture from my beloved city Lviv. The fountain sculpture is from the scene of the fairytale. The sculpture was made in 1964. It is in Stryyskyy park, in the Ukrainian city Lviv.
Renovated fountain.
I was planning to make this goose for Christmas... It took me a few years to fulfill the project. :)
My plan finally materialized. :) I found the pattern, and I started the goose last summer, but I did not finish it. My inspiration for all crafts works in a mysterious way. One minute it is there and another it is gone.
The goose was half done and then the project went into frozen mode. And a few days ago I just took it out and finished it. I'll never understand why it is this way.

Sometimes I wish to be more productive.
So here he is, the goose. I made it with the Betsy's Goose pattern by Sara Elizabeth. It is a free pattern on Ravelry. My goose looks more delicate as I made it with a fingering yarn to be more suitable for my doll's size. I did not wanted a small goose but big enough to give the impression that it is a friend that can help you escape the serpents. :)

I took him to the lake and took a few pictures. We were lucky to met a goose family close to the shore.
They finally met :)
And they are Friends!
Mission completed! Or maybe not. I think I should make him a costume to go with it.
Loved this post, such a cute goose as well. That little jumper/sweater is gorgeous too.
